Far Cry 4 Repatches Nudity After Mistake

While much of the gaming world is eagerly awaiting Far Cry 7 codenamed Blackbird some fans rallied against Ubisoft on Friday for censoring Far Cry 4 a decade after its release.

However, as it turns out it was a mistake, and there are no plans to retroactively censor previous Far Cry titles. In other words, nudity is back in the game.

Ubisoft Clears the Air on Far Cry 4’s Status

After news quickly spread about a potential case of retroactive censorship the official Far Cry Twitter account which is run by Ubisoft quickly addressed those concerns. Specifically content intended for the Japanese version of the game which has been censored since launch was mistakenly sent to the global version of the game. This issue has since been fixed, with the correct files being sent where necessary.

Several other follow-up replies noted that it was an honest mistake with the account continually clarifying that at no point did its developers ever intend to suddenly censor a game that's over a decade old.

For a some Reasons Fans are noticed that a scene where a character originally shows bare breasts was updated to show a makeshift bra. On the other hand, a different scene in which the playable character, Ajay shows off his genitals was also updated to include a loincloth.

Soon after the discovery, fans began erroneously pointing the finger at Tencent, which recently formed a subsidiary with Ubisoft that will focus on several franchises, including Far Cry. Tencent finally invested in Ubisoft and then this happened, hmm one commenter wrote.

Of course in the end the company's involvement with Tencent had nothing to do with the patch. If that were the case, many other Ubisoft titles would have suffered the same result, including other Far Cry games. Things have been sorted out and nudity is once again a thing.
