The opening minutes of a Metroid Prime 4: Beyond were a awesome demonstration of the Nintendo Switch 2 is mouse controls. For  the seven years and Metroid Prime 4 was just a logo. Fans are obsessively watched every Nintendo presentation hoping for an update on the game, but nothing happened until 2024 when the trailer was finally released and motion footage of the game was revealed. Not only is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releasing this year but it is a also getting some really very interestings visuals and gameplay upgrades on the Nintendo Switch 2. And We have played Retro Studios latest installment in the classic science fiction action adventure series on the Nintendo Switch 2 and we have the lot to tell you. Read on to find out more.

Beautiful Beyond

One of the first things we noticed in Metroid Prime 4 was how beautiful it was. It has an incredible cleans or stylish aesthetic and Nintendo switch was advertising it is a running at 120 frames per second on the Switch 2. That won't be the case on the Switch 1 and it is a hard to track how much Nintendo switch that will be able to stick to that number throughout the game, but it's an ambitious goal either way. So far Prime 4 has a really good sense of a scale.

So far Prime 4 has the really good sense of scale. We fought several enemie saw a huge, heavy machine in action, and then took down a large boss that had several different attack phases. The areas we were demoed was only the small glimpse of what the full game can offer so we are a hoping we will see some spectacular setpieces and or large open environments some of the which have already been shown in a trailer.

But Metroid Games also all about tight tunnel or dark corridors or we got to see some of those too. As in previous Prime games The quick button press instantly pops Samus from first person aiming into third person Morph Ball mode that allows her to traverse certain areas she could not otherwise reach. or We got to test this out a bit and it is works pretty well so we can't wait to explore every corner of this game in search of missile upgrade or energy tanks shortcuts and more. This is the most detailed Metroid game yet and these section are no different Giving us the glimpse of the battles taking place between warring factions below you as you roam tunnels above them. and But wait how does all of this happen?

Samouse Aran: Of Mice and Metroids: A Tiny Heros Galactic Tale

One of the most fascinating additions to Metroid Prime 2 on Nintendo Switch 4 is optionally mouse controls. That Looking back. the Prime series has experimented a lot with very unique control options in different games. The first two Metroid Prime games were built around a fairly traditionals Nintendo GameCube controller (although there was nothing traditional about turning a historically 2D sidescrolling game into the first person actions or adventure game with third person ball rolling mechanics) but after that all bets were off. Metroid Prime: Hunters on a Nintendo DS had touch screen controls. Metroid Prime 3 on Nintendo switch Wii had pointer or motion control Metroid Prime Pinball on DS shipped with a Game Boy Advance cartridge Shaped rumble pack. So Let's not talk about Metroid Prime: Blast Ball on Nintendo 3DS.

And now this Metroid Prime 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 lets you turn your right Joy-Con 2 to the side and place it on the flat surface, and control Samus aiming with a fast and accurate mouse pointer with haptic feedback for every shot. Even better the game lets you Nintendo switch from the traditionals stick controls to mouse control a without need to pause to go into the settings. We can see the lots of peoples deciding that this is their preferred way to play Metroid Prime 4 or the ease with which you can swap back and forth between mouse and pointer controls gives you the option of only putting the Joy-Con 2 on the table when it is for serious battle sequence or the Prime 4 definitely uses traditional controls for the more quiet exploration segments. Or maybe you want to play the entire game in handheld mode with Pro Controller. Either way you have a options.

Will Metroid Prime 4 Get Free Switch 2 Upgrade? Here is the Latest

One thing Nintendo hasn't been able to make entirely clear yet is where Prime 4 falls in their weird transitional list of Switch 1 to Switch 2 titles. While some is original Nintendo Switch games like a Echoes of Wisdom and Link's Awakening are a getting free Upgrades patche for the Nintendo Switch 2 others games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are charging $10 for visual upgrades (and some bells and whistles) So that while some games like Kirby and the Forgotten Lands will get $20 upgrades that improve visuals and or add new content. Which of these are categories will Metroid Prime 4 is mouse controls and 120FPS options fall into when it comes to the Switch 2?

Well, just like it is a release date and base game price and we do not know yet. You will be able to buy a base game or the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions Upgrade Pack separately or as the bundle in a bright red Nintendo Switch 2 branded box and as of yet we do not know how much either of these will cost you. Our best guess is that it will be a $10 more for the Switch 2 version Since it is a not coming with expansions like Mario Party + Jamboree TV and Kirby + Star-Crossed World, but we're still not 100% sure. Samus has unlockable psychic powers in Prime 4 So we might have to ask her. She is a not usually very talkative though.

Metroid Prime 4 does not have a release date yet, but don't worry it is coming to Switch 1 and Switch 2 in 2025 so at least we won't have to wait seven years again to find out more.
