Nintendo Makes Upgrading to Switch 2 Easier Than Ever

If you are waiting long time then so your wait is over because Ever since Nintendo is a officially revealed the Switch 2 all eyes have been on a upcoming April Direct. So That is when we will presumably get an official Switch 2 release date or price and the confirmed line up of games. So the last thing I was expecting was for the Nintendo to drop another Direct a week before then a packed with big names like a Pokémon Legends Z-A and Metroid Prime 4. and But maybe given Nintendo switch commitments to backward compatibility I should not be too surprised.

Prior to this weeks a Nintendo switch Direct Nintendo was careful to a temper expectations by declaring There will be no updates about Nintendo Switch 2 during a presentation. While that is a technically true Switch 2 was not mentioned apart from the reminder about the upcoming Direct and the new Virtual Game Card sharing system it is a not the huge leap to say that everything we saw this week will be playable on the Switch 2 and even if officially these are games coming to the original Switch.

It is a win-win situation for the everyone involved those stickings with the OG Switch still have plenty to be excited about the console enters it is eighth year and or anyone upgrading to the Switch 2 can do so safe in the knowledge it will have an extensive back catalogue of the games right from the get go. Nintendo is commitment to backward compatibility is contributing to what I think will be one of smoothest transition we have ever seen between console generations. Of course the most are excited to see what the Switch 2 can do And or what is new games are incoming, but by playing it safe with the hardware and Nintendo switch has all bases covered. Based on the most recent Nintendo Direct, you would not think Nintendo is a trying to sell as many Switch 2 pre orders in the run-up to launch and or convince people to upgrade. And thats inclusive approach should be applauded. The Nintendo switch is essentially saying everyone is welcome, whether you are looking to buy the Switch 2 at launch and upgrade further down the line and or are content to keep the Switch you already own.

That is why there was a no risk in showcasing the multitude of Switch games less than week before the dedicated Switch 2 Direct drops. even when just beneath the surface of a Direct Nintendo was puttings down even more groundwork for a coming succession. or I am talking about the Virtual Game Card system which is a update thats allow Switch owners to link two consoles together and share digital games. It is a useful feature and especially with digital games sales on the rise, and it is a similar to the family sharing system Steam has. But why announce it at the very end of a Switch life cycle when the Switch 2 is the literally weeks or months away? Presumably to Make a transitions to Nintendo Switch 2 even smoother.

Some have pointed out thats a fine print for the Virtual Game Card indicates the existence of the Switch 2 Edition for a certain games. Whether thats means there are exclusive enhancement to a Switch 2 Edition games thats make them unshareable with the older Switch exclusive and re releases that will only work on the Switch 2 and or something else entirely is still a mystery. But in the same ways Nintendo said that Certain Nintendo Switch games may not be supported or fully compatible with a Nintendo Switch 2 when it was announced. this fine print likely covers Nintendo bases in the case of there a being any unshareable games.

Whatever thats fine print means its feels like Nintendo is a treating the road to Nintendo Switch 2 almost like procession and a bit like the way Apple moves from one iPhone to the next. You do not have to upgrade but there are definitely benefits So if you do and or you can bring whatever Games you had before along for the ride.
