Over the past few months, talk of Oblivion Remastered has begun to gain momentum, with some journalists suggesting that it could launch in the first half of 2025. On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Mattmo831 on Resetera discovered several Oblivion Remastered images hosted on Virtuos' website with the project name Altar in the URL, confirming the leak from 2023.

Looking at the leaked images, we can deduce that Oblivion Remastered uses Unreal Engine 5 to improve the game's visuals. A Reddit leak from 2023 says the remaster uses Unreal Engine 5 along with the original code so it should be very similar to the original game.

Comparing the original game and the leaked screenshots, it looks like Virtuoso has adjusted the color grading to give Oblivion a more appealing look overall. Additionally, this could also be a result of Unreal Engine 5's dynamic lighting.

According to MP1ST, Oblivion Remastered features some changes to bring certain aspects of the 2006 hit film up to modern standards. This includes changes to the HUD to make certain elements clearer for new players, adjustments to the stamina system to make it less punishing, and most importantly, changes to combat that are inspired by games like Souls.

Oblivion Remastered What to Expect from DLC

The leaked screenshots show parts of Oblivion's DLC, which means Oblivion Remastered will likely include all of the original DLC, including the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansion packs. It should also include the miniature DLC that adds new locations to the map, as well as the infamous Horse Armor pack.

One of the leaked images is a low-resolution ad for the Deluxe Edition of Oblivion Remastered, highlighting armor sets. It's unclear if these armor sets are made from cut-down material or if they've been made specifically for the remastered version.
