Rematch Surpasses Sloclap's Previous Games with 5x More Players

Sloclap upcoming competitive arcade football game Rematch has had a very successful open beta and attracting a large number of players on Steam.

Sloclap is famous for its martial arts games. Sifu and Absolver. Fans were surprised when the company announced it was making a football game. While the genre is not very diverse, many were unsure if there was a demand for an arcade football game.

Rematch's Massive Success A Game-Changer for Sloclap

Well Sloclap will surely be happy to see the number of concurrent players playing the open beta for Rematch. On Steam alone, the beta has reached 118,000 players (so far). This number is more than five times higher than the number of players playing Sloclap's other game Absolver on Steam at the same time.

This number is higher than the total number of players currently playing Rocket League and EA FC on Steam even though both games are popular on consoles. However we do not know how well the beta is doing on consoles because that data is not available to the public like it is on Steam.

After trying the game and playing it a lot since the open beta started and I agree with what many people are saying on the Rematch subreddit. The games core gameplay is great but it is currently being hamstrung by latency and netcode issues. In a game where reactions and spur-of-the-moment inputs are crucial. it is essential for servers to be as stable as possible for smooth gameplay.

Let it cook in a slow cooker. The game works well overall but it just needs a bit of adjustment with hit registration and server performance which are easy to fix. They supported Sifu and I am sure they'll do a lot more for this game writes CinnamenB.

The Rematch beta offers two Quick Match modes to play 4v4 and 5v5. There are also plans to bring a 3v3 mode at release. Ranked mode is limited to 5v5 because Sloclap thinks it offers the best balance of space and strategy.

The Rematch open beta ends on April 21, and the game will release on PlayStation 5 Console or Xbox Series X/S and PC on June 19.
