EA had a rough year with its games not doing well leading to changes at some of its big studios like BioWare. Now Respawn Entertainment is facing cuts too. The studio said it has canceled two early projects and is making changes to the teams working on Apex Legends and the next Star Wars Jedi game. This likely means some people will lose their jobs.

We are focusing on the future so we have decided to stop working on two early projects and make some changes to the teams working on Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi. These choices were hard and we’re very thankful to the team members affected. They have helped make Respawn what it is today. We are giving them support and helping them find other jobs at EA.

One of the two secret projects is likely the unannounced multiplayer FPS game that was mentioned earlier this year. Jeff Grubb a gaming insider also said that the Steve Fukuda project is in the bin. This means the small team led by Fukuda has stopped working on their experimental project which some leakers had guessed might be Titanfall 3.

A later report from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier says that one of the projects which leaks have called Titanfall 3 was an extraction shooter set in the Titanfall universe.

IGN reports that 100 employees will be impacted by Respawn's changes. Some may find new positions at other EA studios. but many are likely to be laid off. Schreier says that EA is cutting 300 to 400 jobs in total including the 100 at Respawn which means there are not many openings available.

Respawn says it plans to expand Apex Legends in the future. This matches what EA's CEO said earlier this year about a big Apex 2.0 update for the game.

The team will keep improving gameplay and adding new ideas in future seasons. We are also focused on what's next for the franchise creating new experiences that push competitive play while staying true to the values of competition creativity and integrity our community expects.

As for its The studio says the next Star Wars Jedi game will improve storytelling and gameplay.

Star Wars Zero Company a tactics game was recently announced. Respawn helped out with the project working with the main developer Bit Reactor.
