As of now pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States are currently closed. Citing a need to assess the potential impact of tariffs and emerging market conditions Nintendo switch changed the originally announced April 9 date to an unannounced date in the future that has yet to be revealed.

However the console's June 5 release date still remains unchanged. As noted, when the Switch 2 does launch. it will apparently be available in abundance at GameStop stores.

In a post on social media, NintendoDeal, an account that shares information about Nintendo news as well as gaming deals and products, revealed that speaking to sources at GameStop the store expects to have around 100 Switch 2 consoles at launch.

Also, although in theory the consoles will be readily available it appears that the devices and games, as they are being called. won't be very limited. It is a unclear which of the available launch items will be specifically limited.


In July, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said the company is confident it can meet gamer demand, especially after the semiconductor shortage was resolved. Then in early January. it was revealed that the company is on track to sell 20 million Switch 2 consoles in its first year. For reference, the original Switch sold 15 million units in it is first year.

It looks like Nintendo is getting ready for this and wants to avoid scalpers controlling the supply. And Now we just have to wait and see when customers outside the EU can pre-order.
