The game happens in a sci-fi world with huge robots controlled by humans fighting monsters from other dimensions. Battle Suit Aces uses a turn-based system with card game mechanics. You place mechs on a battle line and use energy which builds up each turn to attack enemies. Mechs have abilities that activate in certain situations. The game focuses on picking the right robots and using their combos effectively.

During downtime you can explore your ship recruit new allies make friends with your pilots and improve their skills. You can also upgrade your mechs and spaceship with mods that change their abilities. On your ship you will choose the path your crew takes through the galaxy. Battle Suit Aces is inspired by the design of top JRPGs. The developers Trinket Studios previously created Battle Chef Brigade a game that combined cooking, crafting, fighting and storytelling.
