Before today Destiny 2's future didn’t look great. Late last year the game’s player count dropped to just under 34,000 and it hasn’t improved much since. But now Bungie has revealed big plans for the game's future which should help it a lot.

We have just learned that the Year of Prophecy will begin this summer with The Edge of Fate expansion. This DLC kicks off the new Fate Saga which will unfold over two expansions and big updates this year plus two more expansions Shattered Cycle and The Alchemist coming in summer and winter 2026.

The Edge of Fate expansion is set on the planetoid Kepler offering a story that changes reality and new abilities based on the location and plot. Renegades coming later this year takes inspiration from Star Wars. Both expansions along with future updates will make it easier to jump into Destiny 2 activities by redesigning certain elements.

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate releases on July 15, 2025. Destiny 2: Renegades comes out on December 2, 2025. For more details check Destiny 2's Steam page.
