Doloc Town a post-apocalyptic sandbox game that mixes 2D RPGs like Terraria with farming sim elements like Stardew Valley is now available on Steam.
We’ve all wondered how we’d survive after an apocalypse and Doloc Town is a fun way to imagine it. This new indie game mixes 2D exploration, platforming and building like Terraria with farm management similar to Stardew Valley. Set in a detailed but dangerous post-apocalyptic world Doloc Town feels like a side-scrolling pixel-art version of Fallout 76. It’s now available in early access on Steam.
Doloc Town created by indie developer RedSaw Games Studio is a side-view sandbox game. In 2024 its three-hour demo received great feedback with 97% of players giving it a thumbs up. The game takes place in Doloc Town and nearby areas described as a post-apocalyptic oasis full of old ruins, strange buildings and different people. Your job is to meet the locals, collect resources and help rebuild the land into a cozy thriving place.
You’ll start with a few pots but as you learn new ways to grow plants and discover new tools, your farm will grow. Soon a few plants will turn into whole fields of crops. You can use these crops along with fresh fish and other ingredients to make delicious meals. While exploring you’ll face some dangers but you can build and upgrade robot helpers to protect you.
Doloc Town may look dark and gloomy. but its beautiful hand-drawn pixel art makes it feel welcoming. However the world is tough with challenges like acid rain, heatwaves and unpredictable weather that can damage your crops. To succeed in this farming game you'll need to plan carefully. If you explore the ruins of the old civilization you might find a way to save the land.
RedSaw Games is excited to release Doloc Town in early access. They see this as just the beginning of an amazing journey and look forward to growing the game with help from the community. The studio expects early access to last about a year. If you buy it now you can get a discount especially with the Steam launch sale.
The current early-access version of Doloc Town offers about 15-20 hours of main story and many side missions. Looking ahead, RedSaw plans to add more story side quests, a ranching feature, better automation, a gene system for farming, a new map, more factions, new festivals, improvements for easier gameplay and Steam Workshop support.
