Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick is sure about the new GTA 6 release date. He says Rockstar Games needed more time to make the game better.
Rockstar wants to make the biggest and best game ever. So it took a long time to make Grand Theft Auto 6. At first I thought the game would come out this year but I was wrong. Now the game is planned to come out on May 26, 2026. Even though it's a bit disappointing having a clear release date makes me feel sure there won’t be more delays.
Zelnick said something like this in a new interview with IGN which happened at the same time as Take-Two's latest earnings report.
He says that in the past when they set a date for something they usually met it. But it’s good to remember that he also said he was sure GTA 6 would be ready by its old release date.
Rockstar and Take-Two delayed GTA 6 to next year because they realized the game needed more time to be improved and fixed before release.
As the game gets close to being finished. it becomes clear if it needs more work or not he says. In this case they had a little extra time so they used it to make sure Rockstar Games could fully reach their creative goals without any limits. He agreed with doing it that way.
The first trailer for GTA 6 was amazing to watch. The second trailer showed how much work Rockstar put into the game. The game has very detailed places real-looking characters and many new and old features to play with. Since people are waiting a long time for GTA 6 the company must make sure the game is very good. Even if a not-so-great game would still make lots of money Rockstar and Take-Two want to avoid that and make the best game possible.
