Seven Infamous PC Games Being Delisted from Steam

Sierra's Leisure Suit Larry series a long-time favorite of point-and-click games is being removed from Steam permanently.

Sex in video games is more common now. Games like Mass Effect. The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 have mixed adult content with what was once seen as a more childish medium. But in 1987 Leisure Suit Larry was unusual for its adult themes. Now 38 years later the classic series is being removed from Steam. The reasons are not clear but the Larry games are disappearing for good.

Leisure Suit Larry wasn't the first game to feature sex. In fact its first game Land of the Lounge Lizards was based on a text-based sex game from 1981. For over 30 years the series has been known for sexual content though often crude. It is one of the most famous old games and part of gaming history.

Leisure Suit Larry is known for controversy not because of its sexual content. but because of issues with piracy and computer viruses. Al Lowe one of the creators said in a 2019 interview that there were so many pirated copies of the game that they ended up selling more hint books than actual copies of the game.

Some pirated versions were used to spread viruses to players computers. In 1988 banks and trading institutions were hacked after employees played bootleg copies of Leisure Suit Larry on their work computers according to the Financial Times.

But now The most well-known sleazy gaming character is about to retire. Seven classic Leisure Suit Larry games will be permanently removed from Steam. No clear reason has been given. but Assemble Entertainment which re-released some of the older games, says they will soon be taken off sale forever.

After years of cheesy pickup lines and wild adventures. it's time for Larry to retire his leisure suit at least the old-fashioned one. But don't worry if you already have these classic games they will stay in your library ready to play whenever you want a nostalgic trip with Larry.

The games In The Land of the Lounge Lizards Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored Looking For Love (In Many Wrong Places) Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals Passionate Patti Does a Little Undercover Work Shape Up Or Slip Out and Love for Sail are being removed from Steam. The two most recent Leisure Suit Larry games from 2018 and 2020 will still be available.
