Have you ever wished Fallout was more intense and fast-paced? In modern Fallout games VATS helps you slow things down and plan your moves. The old Fallout games used turn-based combat. But what if you had no help just your skills and quick reflexes? Atomic Exile lets you explore a dangerous world where you survive using your gear and aim. It combines the action of twin-stick and extraction shooters with the deep systems of an RPG.

The game has a top-down pixel style that looks simple at first like an old arcade game. But Atomic Exile is much deeper. You need to manage your loot and inventory carefully. You can change many parts of your weapons like the scope, magazine, grip and barrel. Enemies can hurt different parts of your body, like your arms, legs, chest or head and you’ll have to heal each one separately. Between intense gunfights there’s also detailed weapon and gear customization like in a full RPG.

The rest of Atomic Exile feels like classic Fallout. You explore old ruins and bandit camps fighting zombies and enemies. You can do quests for NPCs in towns and trade your loot with merchants.

Atomic Exile is now in early access. It’s available on Steam for $13.49 until June 30.
