NetEase Games first single-player game is a beautiful action adventure set in ancient China. It follows a story like God of War with a strong bond between a father and his son.
If someone had asked us who would make the next big single-player hack and slash game we never would’ve guessed NetEase Games the same company behind Marvel Rivals. But now they’ve surprised everyone by announcing Blood Message a new AAA action game inspired by Chinese history. It looks stunning and tells an emotional story about a father and son similar to the bond in God of War.
As the name Blood Message suggests the game has intense combat. But it’s not just about violent revenge it focuses on the deep relationship between the nameless father and son which even Kratos from God of War might admire.
Blood Message takes place in ancient China during the last years of the Tang Dynasty around the year 848 AD. The story follows two main characters who get caught up in a major uprising known as the Dunhuang rebellion. Their main goal is simple they just want to return home.
But getting back won't be easy. Even though the game isn’t officially called open-world it includes large dangerous areas. You’ll travel through deadly deserts and wild empty lands across East and Central Asia. Along the way you’ll face tough battles, harsh environments and many challenges that stand in your way.
Blood Message will have more than just sword fighting stealth and survival will also be important in the game. We just hope it doesn’t focus too much on crafting or make players constantly find items like grindstones to keep their sword sharp. It would be better if we could just enjoy the fast brutal combat without too much extra work.
Also the graphics look amazing. At first it was hard to believe we weren’t watching a CGI trailer. But it’s all real thanks to Unreal Engine 5. Just keep in mind you’ll need a powerful PC to run it smoothly.
Blood Message doesn’t have a release date right now but it might be worth keeping an eye on. If you enjoy games that are based on real history or you simply like sword-fighting action, this game could be a good one for you.
