Dragon is Dead is a platform game with roguelike features like Dead Cells and Blasphemous. It just left Steam Early Access and is now available to buy.
If you have played Blasphemous, Dead Cells or Castlevania you will quickly know what Dragon is Dead is like. It has detailed gothic pixel art and is an action platform game with some roguelike features.
Corruption has spread everywhere and it's your job to explore changing levels get stronger and defeat the evil for good. You are a Successor chosen by the gods which means if you die in battle you come back to life.
Every time you play the game looks different with new monsters and different items to find. Like in Dead Cells the more you practice fighting and exploring in Dragon is Dead the faster you get. When you die you lose all your gold and temporary boosts and the game world changes. But you don’t lose everything your equipment and runes stay with you and help in your next try.
Now that Dragon is Dead 1.0 is out there are lots of new things to try. You can play as the hunter a new character who fights with a throwing spear and daggers and has special beast powers. There are also 12 new legendary weapons for the hunter So you have many ways to fight your enemies. You’ll need them because 1.0 adds the final story chapter and boss fight of Dragon is Dead.
After you beat the last boss for the first time you get new Mythic equipment that helps you fight better. There is also a system where you can choose how hard the game is. You can pick from 15 levels going up to the hardest called Nightmare. In Nightmare enemies are stronger but you become weaker making the game very challenging. If you like tough games like Hades or Dead Cells Dragon is Dead will be great for you.
