Upcoming French JRPG Edge of Memories Offers a Unique Combat Experience

I played the new French JRPG Edge of Memories. It has real-time fighting that is very fun and worth trying.

If you finished playing Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and want another French-made JRPG I have a great option for you. I recently tried the new game Edge of Memories and it has cool action and fighting. People who worked on big games like Xenoblade Chronicles X, Nier and Chrono Trigger helped make it. I’m excited for it to come out.

The Corrosion has badly damaged the world. It changes everything it touches into scary monsters. The people of Avaris are almost gone. You play as Eline the Soul Whisperer. Your job is to explore the ruined land called Edge of Memories and help people you find. You fight infected enemies quickly using strong attacks.

In Midgar Studio’s JRPG you’re not alone. Two friends Ysoris and Kanta travel with you. You control Eline and use moves like dodging, jumping and attacking to fight enemies. Ysoris and Kanta help you by supporting you in battle.

You choose different skills for two characters and use them when they are ready while you fight. You can also change your setup quickly with active moves and a special bonus that helps you in battle. It’s an easy system but I found it very good because I could switch builds to handle any fight well.

You can use fire, ice or thunder attacks. Each one works better on some enemies. These attacks can also open new parts of the game. I liked changing between them depending on who I was fighting.

If you like the fast fights in Nier Automata you will like Edge of Memories too. The fights feel similar and can be hard if many enemies come at you at once.

Edge of Memories has some very talented people working on it. The game includes the writer Sawako Natori from Nier, singer Emi Evans from Nier Automata character designer Raita Kazama from Xenoblade Chronicles X and composer Yasunori Mitsuda from Chrono Trigger.
