Battlestate Games new roadmap shows that the next Escape From Tarkov wipe will be a hardcore one which means the game might get a lot harder.
If you play Escape From Tarkov you already know that wipes are a normal part of the game. A wipe means that all players lose their progress and have to start from scratch. So even if you spent a lot of time collecting powerful gear, weapons and items a wipe resets everything. This keeps the game fair so no one stays ahead forever.
Now there's going to be another wipe in July but this one is going to be different. The game’s developer Battlestate Games has shared a new roadmap and mentioned something called a hardcore wipe. This sounds like it will be even more difficult than the regular wipes players are used to.
Right now Battlestate hasn’t clearly explained what a hardcore wipe means. But many players believe it will bring some of the rules that people usually follow in the hardcore playstyle. Tarkov doesn’t have an official hardcore mode but some skilled players challenge themselves by adding tough rules to how they play. These rules often include things like not using the flea market not doing scav runs and avoiding anything that makes the game easier.
So if this new hardcore wipe includes these kinds of restrictions it could mean that all players will have to follow these hard rules. On top of that everyone’s progress will be reset like usual. That means no gear no items and a much harder game experience for everyone when the wipe hits in July.
Escape From Tarkov is one of the best first-person shooter (FPS) games because of how real and intense it feels. The game is very challenging and that’s actually what makes people love it and keep playing. Now the game is about to get even tougher with a new update called a hardcore wipe. This update will make the game harder for everyone not just for the players who usually choose the more difficult options.
The full version of Escape From Tarkov (called version 1.0) is expected to come out later in 2025. Because of that some people think this hardcore wipe might be the game’s last big update during early access. Others think it could be a way for the developers to test how players react to an even more intense version of the game before it fully launches.
The hardcore wipe is planned for July 2025 and will come with update 0.16.8.0. Along with the wipe players can also expect new Prestige levels and more ways to customize their characters according to the developer Battlestate’s roadmap.
According to the roadmap the last update for early access is planned for August. This update will include a special in-game event and will fully connect Escape from Tarkov with its multiplayer version EFT Arena. It will also bring improvements and fixes to three maps Shoreline, Ground Zero and Interchange. After this update is done the game should be ready for its full release version 1.0.
