New Thief Game Announced But There's a Big Catch

Ten years after the failed reboot a new Thief game is finally coming. But there's a problem with this return of the classic PC game.

A new Thief game is coming. If you remember the old games like The Dark Project The Metal Age and Deadly Shadows this is exciting news especially if you didn’t like the 2014 reboot by Square Enix. Yes it’s really happening. The famous stealth series that inspired Deus Ex and introduced us to Garrett is back. But there’s a problem. The new game Legacy of Shadow may not work on your PC depending on your hardware. It’s a bit like what happened with Half-Life: Alyx.

Thief: Legacy of Shadow is a VR-only game made by Eidos-Montréal, Vertigo Games and Maze Theory. You play as Magpie a young thief living under the strict rule of Lord Ulysses Northcrest. Magpie isn't the famous thief Garrett but they wear a similar cloak and have the same mechanical eye. You can watch how the game looks in the video below.

Tonight Sony showed a new game called Legacy of Shadow at their event. It will come out in 2025 for Steam VR Meta Quest and PSVR2. The game has things like lockpicking, running on roofs and hiding in shadows. It reminds me of the old Thief games made by Looking Glass and Ion Storm. I was hoping the new Thief game would be for more than just VR but we’ll see. You can already add Legacy of Shadow to your wishlist on Steam if you want.
