Riot Games is talking about bad behavior in League of Legends. They are sharing how they will handle players who troll or bother others in the game.
Riot Games tells players they are sure their system can spot bad behavior in League of Legends. Many players worry there are more troublemakers in the game. The lead designer Matt Phroxzon Leung-Harrison says they are testing new ways to find more toxic players including those who are clearly trolling others.
Last year Riot made a program called Vanguard to stop cheating in League of Legends. Some players said it caused problems with their computers but Riot said that was not true. Since then many players have talked about issues with Vanguard like game performance and cheaters still being in matches. Now Phroxzon is talking about bad behavior in the game and how Riot is working to stop it.
Phroxzon said I've seen some talks about bad behavior lately. I want to say a few things. First we are sure our system catches problems correctly most of the time. If you see someone punished unfairly please send us an example with the game ID and server. We will check it out.
Some of the things you still see were expected. We focused first on making sure our system is very accurate (over 98%) and were careful at the start. Now we are testing how well it works for other kinds of behavior including obvious trolling. These tests help us make sure we don’t make mistakes and we are not punishing anyone yet. Please be patient with us this is important work and we will update you in a few months.
Now that we have a good system working well with player support and tech checks done we’re excited to start increasing our work. We’ll share more details and numbers in the next update.
After their post a user named DanielDKXD asked in the Reddit comments if it is worth picking the cheating option when reporting fake or bought accounts. He said he never sees those accounts get punished.
Since Vanguard came out the Anti-Cheat team has banned more than three million accounts for cheating using bots or buying accounts. Out of these over 1.4 million were actively playing in Ranked solo games says Phroxzon.
Please use the Cheating option because it helps us a lot. The Anti-Cheat team bans fake accounts in groups so we don’t show how we catch them. Sometimes bad players can spoil games before we find and ban them for good. This is a constant fight against ways to trick our system and players who want to ruin the game for others.
If you missed it catch up on all the WASD news. A new data leak shows that using keyboard keys to move might come to the game. This would be the biggest change in League of Legends in many years.
