Star Citizen Dev Delays Controversial Flight Blades After Player Backlash

Cloud Imperium Games is taking out the Star Citizen flight blades for now because many players did not like them. They will bring them back next month.

After many players complained the Star Citizen game maker Cloud Imperium Games delayed a new item that helps improve ships. The item called flight blades can be bought with real money or in-game money. But the company made them available early and only for real money. Because players were unhappy, the company now says all new items will be available to buy in the game from the start.

Cloud Imperium made a new Star Citizen item called flight blades. These help make your ship faster and easier to control. They were planned to come in June and could be bought with real money or in-game money. At first you could only get them by paying real money and they cost between $9.60 and $42. Many players didn’t like this so Cloud Imperium decided to delay adding flight blades to the game.

Star Citizen has always followed one important rule: everything you pay for will be possible to get by playing the game. Your support helps the game grow but you should also earn rewards by playing says Cloud Imperium.

This year we’re making 11 updates instead of 4. We’re fixing more bugs adding more fun stuff and working faster to make the game better for everyone. But because we moved so fast we made a small mistake.

The new flight blades will be available for aUEC in our update this June. We usually sell them early on the pledge store to help pay for development. But now for small parts like flight blades and bomb racks we will let players buy them in the game at the same time they show up in the store.

You always get to choose. You can help the project early if you want but you don’t have to. If you have a game package you can buy these items with in-game money in the next update. And for new gameplay kits we’ll make sure you can get the items in the game from the very first day.

Cloud Imperium shared a message on the Star Citizen forums. Many people like when flight blades were first announced did not fully believe it. One user SaltEMike said This is just a quick fix to make people feel better. The real problem is that the game keeps selling more items that affect what players do every day.

Incubbus says the studio has been making bad choices for a long time but only for the game not for money. Another player says I don't believe what they say.

The flight blades will be added to Star Citizen in June. You can buy them with real money or game money. So far Star Citizen has collected over $816 million from more than 5.6 million people who support the game.
