Thrive Heavy Lies The Crown is a medieval city-building game that mixes ideas from Manor Lords and Total War. It will be available soon on Steam as version 1.0.
Right now there are many great city-building games to choose from but I always want more. Games like Manor Lords, Frostpunk 2, Against the Storm, Timberborn and Cities Skylines each have their own style. But none of them are like Thrive: Heavy Lies The Crown. This game mixes city building real-time strategy and medieval fantasy all in one. It will soon launch fully on Steam.
If you’ve played games like Manor Lords you’ll quickly understand Thrive: Heavy Lies The Crown. You begin as a new leader of a medieval fantasy kingdom. You gather resources, build buildings and help your people live better than just surviving. At first it feels like a regular city-building game. But then things begin to change.
As a ruler you need to protect your kingdom’s reputation. In Thrive every choice you make is important. You can make your kingdom kind or cruel with hard decisions in three parts of the game. No matter how you choose to rule there are good and bad things that come with it. So you should always think carefully before making your next decision.
When war arrives everything changes. Thrive becomes a strategy game like Age of Empires or Total War. You have to fight to win attack castles, loot trade routes or battle fantasy creatures. Thinking fast is the key to success.
Steam 1.0 is coming soon and many new features have been added to Thrive: Heavy Lies The Crown since its early access release. These include better graphics, more militia units, citizen revolts, improved trade routes, new buildings, an influence system, difficulty levels and more. Version 1.0 will also add useful updates like Steam achievements and the option to turn off story dialogue.
Zugalu Entertainment has announced that Thrive: Heavy Lies The Crown will fully release on Steam on Wednesday, June 18. You can check out the game here.
