V Rising Dev Teases Next Game, Promises It's Worthy of Vardoran

Invaders of Oakveil is finally out and V Rising developer Stunlock Studios says it's now thinking about the future. I'm excited to see what's coming next.

If you enjoy survival games there are many great options to choose from. Rust is still very popular on Steam Subnautica is a well-loved classic and even Minecraft recently got a big visual update after so many years. But for me V Rising is still the best pick. The game focuses on vampires and got a major update called Invaders of Oakveil earlier this year which made it even better. Now that version 1.1 is out the developer Stunlock Studios is starting to plan the future of the game and I’m really excited to see what comes next.

Stunlock has been working on V Rising for a long time. It first came out in early access in 2022 and the full version launched two years later. That big Oakveil update helped turn it into one of the best vampire games ever made.

If you haven’t played V Rising since the Oakveil update came out here’s what’s new. There’s a brand-new area called Oakveil Woodlands along with three new weapons and seven new spells to try. The game also has a new fuse and reforge system for upgrading gear. Combat has been improved too stats and gear have been rebalanced and blood types have been changed to make fights more interesting. You can even build your own combat arena inside your castle and keep your treasures safe in a special treasury room. Whether you’re just starting or returning after a break the Invaders of Oakveil update makes it a great time to play again.

As for what’s next Stunlock Studios shared some early ideas in a new blog post. They say V Rising 1.1 is the version that finally brings their full vision to life but they’re not stopping there.

Stunlock Studios says that with this latest update they’ve finished creating the main content they originally planned. Now that their vision is complete they’re looking inward and thinking about how to make their dark vampire world even better and more exciting.

Before they can decide what’s coming next they say they need to return to the drawing board. They'll be working quietly behind the scenes experimenting, learning and dreaming up new ideas that no one has seen before. It’s something they’ve done before and it’s always a fun but challenging journey. They also mention that the next steps will take some time so they’re asking fans to be patient. As they say the Vampires will rise again when they do the future of Vardoran will be worth the wait.

It’s not clear yet what Stunlock Studios is planning next. They might be working on a new expansion or DLC to grow their dark vampire world. It’s also possible they’re thinking about creating a new vampire game set in the same universe. Since they mention Vardoran the world of V Rising it seems likely they want to continue building on that story in some way.
