The Darktide Arbites is now part of the Warhammer 40k co-op shooter and Fatshark has added weapon buffs to make the game more fun for everyone.
The Adeptus Arbites have arrived in Warhammer 40k Darktide and their presence is sure to give a boost to the forces of Tertium. But developer Fatshark wants to make sure all players are enjoying the game not just those using the powerful new class but also those playing older characters. That’s why the team is releasing a big balance update with the June patch. This update will include major buffs to many weaker weapons helping them feel stronger and more fun to use.
Fatshark also shared in a new blog post that it plans to keep making regular balance updates along with major game patches. While the team admits that perfect balance in a co-op PvE game might not be possible or even needed they still want to keep things fair. Their goal is to make sure players feel free to try different builds and use the weapons and classes they enjoy the most.
The latest update focuses on making weaker weapons stronger so they can match up better with the best ones in the game. Some changes are also made to balance things with the new gear added by the Darktide Arbites. For example regular shotguns have been improved to make sure the new Arbites weapons feel good to use but don’t make older weapons useless.
One big change is for Combat Shotguns. They are now easier to use and don’t need special shells to be powerful. They now have better base damage, faster reload speed, more ammo and improved sprinting and stamina. This helps players move around more easily and fight up close without always needing perfect weak-spot shots. The Double-Barreled Shotgun has also been upgraded doing more damage to tough armored enemies and holding more ammo.
Fatshark has said that the Lucius Helbore Lasguns were meant to feel slow when swapping but this became too frustrating at higher difficulty levels when more enemies appear. So they’ve made the swap time faster though it still keeps that heavy clunky feel. They also improved how the gun detects hits and now ranged shots deal better damage against armor and weak spots.
Shock Mauls were reliable for stunning enemies but didn’t do much damage and felt a bit boring to use. Now they hit harder on the first enemy especially with heavy or special attacks. It’s also easier to land hits thanks to better hitboxes and attack timing. Plus changes to stamina use mean they won’t wear you out as quickly.
The Devil's Claw swords are now easier and more fun to use. They use less stamina have faster block recovery and feel quicker and more responsive overall. Their light attacks are a bit stronger and the heavy slam and special counter move now do much more armor damage making them more powerful in tough fights.
The Atrox Tactical Axes have also been improved. They are already good for moving around but now they let you attack while sprinting which helps you jump right into combat faster. The sprint movement is also much smoother. These axes also got better hit detection and stronger special attacks. Plus there's a new uppercut-style heavy attack that does extra damage especially against heavily armored enemies.
The famous Tigrus Heavy Eviscerators are getting a big upgrade. These powerful Zealot weapons were falling behind compared to the new Relic Blades which have better sweeping attacks and similar single-target power. To fix this the developers at Fatshark have removed the damage limits on secondary enemies during wide swings. They’ve also made the heavy attacks much stronger and improved how well the weapon works against armored enemies. This means the Heavy Eviscerators should now feel like a much better and more useful choice.
These updates are coming in the Warhammer 40k Darktide June update on Monday, June 23. This update will also bring the new Arbites DLC. Fatshark says they know some weapons are a bit too strong right now but instead of weakening those they want to improve the weaker ones first. They’re also working on major changes for the Duelling Swords and some updates to the Plasma Gun but those will come later.
