Halo Multiplayer Reborn Inside Half-Life Thanks to Epic New Mod
The first Half-Life changed everything for first-person shooter games. It gave us a detailed world and a strong story. The game begins with Gordon Freeman riding a tram into the Black Mesa lab and even the walls of the place help tell the story. Later Halo came out and made things even bigger with large open levels and a whole universe full of lore. These two games shaped how FPS games are made today. But what if both games were mixed into one? Now you can see that for yourself.

A group called Phoenix Project Software has made a new fan game called Halo Goldsource. It rebuilds Halo's multiplayer inside the engine used for the first Half-Life called Goldsrc. This creates a strange but exciting mix. You’re playing on Halo maps like Blood Gulch with weapons like the MA5 Assault Rifle but the movement and feel are like old-school Half-Life. It’s like two great games have become one and it’s hard to look away.

Right now Halo Goldsource is focused on multiplayer. The team is recreating classic Halo maps and weapons like the M90 Shotgun and CE Magnum. You can play popular modes like Slayer and Firefight but they will feel very different because of the Half-Life engine.

Halo Goldsource 1.0 is Finally Here with Big Improvements and New Features The first full version of the Halo Goldsource mod version 1.0 has finally been released by the team at Phoenix Project Software. With this big update they have added many new features and upgrades to make the game better than before. Now the mod works on Linux systems and it also supports game controllers so more players can enjoy it on different devices.

But this isn’t the end for Halo Goldsource. The team at Phoenix Project Software has shared their plans for the future of the mod. They want to release new updates every three to four months. These updates could be big or small but they want to keep the mod growing and improving regularly. They admit that this schedule might not always be followed perfectly but it’s the best plan they have to keep making progress.

To keep things organized they’re naming the updates based on seasons and years. That means version 1.0 is called the Summer 2025 Release. In a few months they plan to release version 1.1 which will be the Winter 2025 Update and they will continue like that with each new version.

If you're excited to try Halo Goldsource 1.0 you can download the mod right now and see all the new features for yourself.
