Apex Legends Season 26 is bringing big changes. The game will get updates to ranked mode changes to weapons and a brand-new game mode is coming too.
Apex Legends is making waves again. Even though the game has never really disappeared and continues to be super popular it’s actually the fifth most-played game on Steam it’s now starting to create a lot of excitement all over again. That’s because Respawn the developers of Apex Legends just teased the upcoming Season 26 which is called Showdown. This is the time of year when things usually get exciting in the Apex community. Players start talking more about the game interest picks up on social media and the number of people playing the game starts going up. A lot of players who had taken a break jump back in especially into ranked matches which can sometimes lead to easier wins for regular players because these returning players (like me) are often a bit rusty and need time to get good again.
While fans are hoping for new content it's probably not very likely that we’ll get a new Legend in Season 26. That’s because Apex just introduced Sparrow a character with skills that feel very inspired by Legolas from Lord of the Rings in the last season so another brand-new character might be too soon. But even without a new Legend the developers aren’t leaving us empty-handed. Respawn has already given us exciting teasers that have fans guessing and preparing for what could be a major update in the next few weeks.
The biggest feature coming in Season 26 seems to be a brand new permanent game mode. According to Apex Legends official website this new mode is designed to focus on more shooting less looting which means players might not have to spend so much time searching for weapons and gear. Instead everyone could start with fully-upgraded weapons making fights happen faster and more often. This idea has already been used in temporary game modes like the Rift Relics LTM and players really enjoyed it. There's also some speculation that the developers might bring back Arenas the 3v3 mode that was removed a while ago. Even though not many people played it when it was available some fans still miss it. However it seems unlikely that Arenas will make a full comeback right now.
Respawn has announced that Apex Legends Season 26 will start with something they’re calling a new experiment to change the way the game is usually played. This means they are planning to shake up the meta which is the way players typically play to win by possibly adjusting how certain Legends or weapons perform. Along with this announcement Respawn shared an image that features Caustic and Bangalore two Legends known for using smoke-based abilities in battle. This could be a hint that smoke is going to play a much bigger role in Season 26. It’s possible that these Legends might get buffs which means their abilities might become stronger or more useful. If that’s true then fights could become more chaotic and harder to see bringing back what some players call the can’t-see-anything meta where smoke fills the screen and visibility becomes a challenge.
In addition to that the Legend Ballistic teased that there will be a re-energized weapon coming from his personal collection in Season 26. This means one of the existing weapons in the game will likely be reworked or upgraded in a significant way. Based on the teaser image and the wording it looks like it could be a pistol that is being changed to use energy ammo instead of its usual ammo type. While this hasn’t been officially confirmed the hints suggest it strongly. Respawn often chooses its words carefully when teasing new content so fans are already making educated guesses. so fans are already making educated guesses. Since the Wingman now uses sniper ammo and the P2020 recently got the akimbo (dual-wield) buff it’s quite possible that the next pistol to receive changes will be the RE-45. Players are hoping this weapon will become more powerful and useful in combat.
As always the new season will also bring ranked mode updates meaning there could be changes to how the competitive system works as well as a brand-new battle pass filled with fresh rewards for players to unlock as they play. There’s also some speculation about a big possible change to the start of each match. In the professional esports side of Apex Legends called the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) the dropship that players normally jump from at the start of a match has been removed. Some fans are wondering if this change could come to ranked mode too. There’s talk about a POI (Point of Interest) draft system where teams might pick where they want to land before the match even starts. It’s not clear how that would work in regular ranked play but it’s an idea that’s gaining attention and many players are curious to see if Respawn will try it.
If you really enjoy playing battle royale games and just can’t wait for Apex Legends Season 26 to start there’s something important you should do first. You need to make sure that your computer or laptop meets the system requirements for Apex Legends. This means checking if your PC has the right hardware like enough RAM a good enough graphics card and a strong processor so the game runs smoothly and doesn’t lag. If your system matches or beats the recommended specs you’ll have a much better chance of performing well in matches reacting faster and maybe even winning those intense endgame fights.
But don’t worry if your PC isn’t perfect or doesn’t meet all the requirements exactly. There’s still a good way to improve your gameplay experience. You can go into the game’s settings and adjust them to match what your device can handle. This means turning down things like shadows textures or resolution to make sure the game runs faster and doesn’t freeze. Even if you don’t have a powerful gaming PC by using the best Apex Legends settings for low-end systems you can still enjoy smooth performance and stay competitive while waiting for all the exciting new content in Season 26.
