A new report says Black Ops 7 will come out over a month after Battlefield 6 setting up a big fight between the two FPS games.
Right now many people think that Call of Duty Black Ops 7 might face a hard time when compared to Battlefield 6. Battlefield 6 is already getting a lot of attention and excitement before its release and in this early stage it seems to be winning the hype battle. I am not sure if Activision the company behind Call of Duty is also feeling this pressure but it looks like they are making careful moves. A new leak which comes from a trusted source gives us an idea about the release date of Black Ops 7. According to this leak the game will not be released too close to Battlefield 6. Instead it will come later. If the leak is correct Black Ops 7 will release on November 14 which is about five weeks after Battlefield 6 comes out. This gap could be Activision’s way of avoiding a direct clash with its biggest competitor.
Personally I am very excited about the upcoming battle between Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6. It feels like it is going to be one of the biggest rivalries of the year. I still remember what happened back in 2021 when we saw three huge games launch around the same time Call of Duty Vanguard Battlefield 2042 and Halo Infinite. Back then everyone was excited but sadly all three games ended up disappointing players in different ways. None of them really lived up to the massive expectations. Because of that fans were left unhappy. This year however things feel different. I honestly believe we could get at least two amazing shooters that people will love to play for a long time and maybe even consider as some of the best FPS games ever made.
So far Battlefield 6 looks really strong. Its beta test showed that the game has a lot of promise and it feels like it could deliver something special. On the other hand Black Ops 7 has been very quiet and we have not seen much about it yet. But that silence is about to end very soon. Next week the game is set to appear at Gamescom Opening Night Live which should give us a much better idea of what to expect. And just before this event another rumor about the release date has started spreading again.
This new report lines up with what we have already heard from the well-known Call of Duty insider who goes by the name GhostOfHope Adding more weight to this, another reliable leaker called billbil-kun from Deal Labs has also shared information. According to him Call of Duty Black Ops 7 will be released on Friday November 14. Not only that but he also claims that pre-orders will begin on Wednesday August 20 which is just one day after its big showing at Gamescom Opening Night Live.
Call of Duty games almost always come out around the same time every year. Usually the release window is the end of October or the very beginning of November. Sometimes though, the games have launched a little later than expected. A good example of this was back in 2020 when Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War was released on November 13. That was actually pretty late compared to the usual schedule. On the other hand the most recent game in the series Black Ops 6 launched much earlier on October 25 last year. So you can see that the dates can shift a bit but they mostly stay within a certain pattern.
Now if the new leaked information is correct it looks like Black Ops 7 won’t come out until more than a month after Battlefield 6 which is planned to release on Friday October 8. That means there could be about a five-week gap between the two games. Honestly this timing feels like a win-win situation for both franchises. Battlefield 6 has built up an unbelievable amount of hype much more than most people were expecting a few months ago. When it comes out a massive number of players will probably jump straight in and play nonstop. But here’s the thing even the most hyped games can lose steam after a few weeks. If Battlefield 6 doesn’t manage to hold players attention with constant updates and exciting gameplay people could start feeling a little burned out or bored.
That’s exactly where Call of Duty Black Ops 7 could shine. By launching later it might feel fresh and exciting just as Battlefield players are starting to drift away. Players who love military shooters could easily switch from one game to the other keeping the excitement alive for months. It’s almost like Battlefield will warm people up and then Black Ops 7 will arrive at the perfect time to capture everyone’s attention all over again. Of course this is just a prediction and things could turn out completely different but it does make a lot of sense.
For fans like me who enjoy both series the timing is actually fantastic. You’ll get plenty of time to enjoy everything Battlefield 6 has to offer without feeling rushed. Then when Black Ops 7 launches you’ll be ready to dive into a brand-new experience without feeling like you had to choose one game over the other.
One more thing to remember as of right now there are only a few days left to try out the Battlefield 6 open beta. If you haven’t jumped in yet now’s the perfect time. And if you do make sure to check out guides especially ones that list the best weapons so you know exactly what gear to bring into battle and how to set up the strongest loadout.
