The September Minecraft Live showcase has now finished and it has shown us a very big look at everything that will arrive in the Copper Age update and it has also given us a very big teaser about another upcoming release that will be called Mounts of Mayhem which is going to arrive later this year. The livestream event is always the best place to see all the biggest announcements for one of the most popular sandbox games ever made and this time again the show has delivered a huge number of exciting updates that will keep players busy for a very long time. The biggest highlights include the reveal of a brand new mob that is called the Nautilus and it will work as the perfect mount for anyone who wants to explore deep underwater areas and along with that we also have a new weapon in the form of a spear which will completely change the way players can fight enemies. These additions are only a small part of everything that was revealed so we need to go step by step and look at each detail in the simplest way possible.

I am also a big Terraria fan and for a long time I have been waiting to see copper get proper attention in Minecraft because copper is such a useful resource and yet until now it was not really given the spotlight. Finally with the new Copper Age update copper will play a very central role and will completely change how the early game experience feels. The team has already been testing many of these features for some time and many players already know about the cute Copper Golem that can sort items between special Copper Chests and this will be extremely helpful for anyone who loves to keep their inventory neat and organized.

Now at last we also know the exact date for the Minecraft version 1.21.9 release and the wait is almost over. The Copper Age will officially launch on Tuesday September 30 and once it arrives players everywhere will be able to craft and use copper in a wide variety of ways. The material can now be used for making standard tools that everyone expects and beyond that you can also create new armor sets new weapons and even decorative and functional items like torches lanterns chains and much more. The green colored Copper Torch and the glowing Copper Lantern are some of the best looking items and they are already my personal favorites because they give builds a unique atmosphere that no other light source really provides.

When we look at how these copper creations function we see that they sit right between iron and gold when it comes to levels of protection weapon damage and overall durability. This makes copper the perfect middle step that fills in a gap that has always felt too large for new players. Before this update many players often found that jumping from iron directly to higher tier items left an imbalance but now copper will provide a smoother progression curve. On top of this the update will also bring a brand new piece of furniture called the Shelf. The Shelf is like a mix between a display frame and a storage container because it can hold three visible item slots but it can also store entire stacks which means it can act as a practical way to store things and also decorate your home at the same time.

The showcase did not only focus on the Copper Age update. We also got our very first look at what is coming in the Mounts of Mayhem update that will be fully released later in 2025. This new content will add an entirely new tiered weapon that is called the Spear. The Spear can be used for quick jabbing attacks but you can also charge it up to unleash a more powerful strike. When the move is timed perfectly it has the ability to knock enemies right off their mounts. The Spear can also be used while you are riding on your own mount or even while sitting in a minecart. As an added bonus the damage of the Spear increases based on how fast you are moving which means it rewards creative players who love speed and mobility during fights.

Now we need to talk about the most exciting new creature. The Nautilus. This is a brand new underwater mount that can be tamed if you feed it Pufferfish. Once you gain its trust it becomes your loyal companion and you can ride it through the deep oceans with ease. The Nautilus is not only stylish but it can also be equipped with armor if you are able to find different types. The most powerful part of riding a Nautilus is that it gives you a special effect which prevents your air bubbles from going down. This means that as long as you remain mounted on the Nautilus you can breathe underwater forever and explore without any limit. Of course you must be careful because if you get off its back the normal air bubble system will return and you could drown if you do not pay attention.

However the oceans will not always be safe. Along with the friendly Nautilus there is also a very dangerous variant known as the Zombie Nautilus. This terrifying creature is most often used by the Drowned enemies and it is extremely powerful. If you come across one of these in the depths you need to be prepared for a very tough battle. This was not the only undead mount revealed either. For the first time in Survival mode players will encounter the Zombie Horse. This horse has been available only in Creative mode for more than 10 years but finally it will appear in the normal game. The horses themselves are passive so they will not attack you but unfortunately their riders are not friendly and will present a serious challenge.

Mounts of Mayhem is scheduled to arrive in late 2025 but players will not have to wait that long to try parts of it. The content will begin appearing in test builds through the Bedrock preview and the Java snapshots so players who enjoy testing can get an early look. The showcase also included a few fun extras such as a special celebration video for the Happy Ghast mob which was added during the Chase the Skies event. On top of all this there was one final surprise announcement that a Dragon Ball Z downloadable content pack will be released later this year and this will bring another wave of excitement to the Minecraft community.

All in all the September Minecraft Live showcase has given us a massive look at the future of the game. The Copper Age will reshape the way early progression feels by giving copper a central role. Mounts of Mayhem will bring new weapons mounts and mechanics that will make combat and exploration far more dynamic. Extra content like the Happy Ghast celebration and the Dragon Ball Z DLC shows that Minecraft continues to grow in ways that appeal to every kind of player. Whether you love building exploring fighting or just enjoying new items there will be something in these updates for you.
