Blizzard has shared some final details before Diablo 4 Season 8 including class balance updates and a new Lair Boss system.
Diablo 4 Season 8 is almost here and it brings back the powerful Belial. In a recent stream Blizzard shared details about the season including changes to the Lair Boss ladder how the new battle pass will work and updates on class abilities some getting stronger weaker or reworked.
Diablo 4 Season 8 is called Belial’s Return but Blizzard also refers to it as the Season of the Bosses because of the focus on boss battles. The main boss Belial will be the toughest in the Lair Boss ladder. When the season starts next week his Supreme Form will be the hardest boss to beat. Additionally a smaller version of Belial might appear during other boss fights with a small chance of showing up after you defeat a Lair Boss.
To fight the Supreme Belial boss you need to defeat an unexpected guest first. This will drop the Lair Key which is required to summon him. Lair Keys are a new system for summoning bosses and the image below shows which items summon specific bosses. Best of all summoning Lair Bosses is now free. The image also highlights two new bosses added in Season 8: the Harbinger of Hatred and Urivar along with Belial.
Today's livestream showed some big balance changes for Season 8. Some key updates include stronger Whirlwind skills for the Barbarian a big boost to the Druid's Earthen Might and a complete rework of the Sorcerer's Avalanche skill.
Starting with Season 8 Diablo 4 introduces the Reliquary rewards system replacing the old battle pass. The system organizes rewards into different catalogs or groups. The first catalog is free and you can unlock the others by upgrading to premium just like a battle pass. You can buy individual items in any order using a new currency called Favor Tokens earned by completing quests and defeating monsters. Unlocking everything in a catalog gives you an extra bonus reward.
Blizzard explained in today’s livestream that you can hold up to 99 Favor Tokens at a time so be sure to use them regularly. Any leftover tokens will carry over to the next season.
The livestream covers a lot more and you can also check all the changes in the Season 8 patch notes here. And Diablo 4 Season 8: Belial’s Return launches on Tuesday April 29.
