Haikyuu is about volleyball and the Karasuno High School team. Once a strong team it became average after losing its great coach and players. Haikyuu is one of the best sports anime ever with many exciting moments that give fans goosebumps.
Haikyu has many exciting matches but some are clearly better than others. These matches stood out. exceeding everyone's expectations and were a joy to watch from beginning to end.
1. Karasuno Vs. Inarizaki
In the second phase of the Spring Tournament, Karasuno plays against Inarizaki. The Miya twins from Inarizaki are especially tough for Karasuno to handle. On top of that every player on Inarizaki is very strong.
What makes this match the best in the anime is how it shows how much stronger each Karasuno member has become, especially Hinata Shoyo after the Youth Camp.
2. Karasuno Vs. Aoba Johsai
In the semi-finals of the Spring Tournament Qualifiers Karasuno plays against Aoba Johsai. This rematch shows the progress Karasuno has made after their tough practice following their loss to Aoba Johsai in the Interhigh Tournament.
The match is great but it gets even better in the second half when Oikawa decides he won't let Kageyama win easily and puts in extra effort to take the victory from Karasuno.
3. Karasuno Vs. Shiratorizawa
Karasuno faces Shiratorizawa in the finals of the Spring Tournament Qualifiers the best team in the region. A big part of their strength comes from Wakatoshi Ushijima one of Japan's top players and Shiratorizawa's Ace.
The match highlights how each Karasuno player has grown and how they play their part well. Shiratorizawa also plays excellently, doing their best to beat Karasuno.
4. Karasuno Vs. Aoba Johsai
Karasuno is now playing Aoba Johsai with their full team as Oikawa Toru is starting. The match shows the difference in strength between Karasuno and the stronger teams in the region with Oikawa easily handling everything Kageyama and Hinata throw at him.
The match shows that even though Aoba Johsai's players were not very strong on their own Oikawa Toru's skills as a setter helped them play their best.
5. Nekoma Vs. Nohebi
After losing to Itachiyama, Nohebi did not want to miss their last chance to play in the Spring Tournament by losing to Nekoma. The match shows Nohebi using mind games against Nekoma's strong determination.
Nekoma tries some new moves against Nohebi but in the end their strong defense helps them win and secure a spot in the Spring Tournament.
6. Karasuno Vs. Johzenji
Johzenji represents freedom and fun in their play. They give Karasuno a hard time with their unique style. Karasuno wins the first set but Johzenji quickly comes back in the second set.
In the second set their skilled manager's words pump up Johzenji and they start playing seriously making it one of the best matches in the game.
7. Karasuno Vs. Wakutani Minami
Wakutani Minami led by Takeru Nakashima, gave Karasuno a tough challenge. Due to an accident Karasuno had to play at a disadvantage. While Wakutani’s players were not very strong on their own Takeru Nakashima guided them to become a tough team for Karasuno.
This match highlights Karasuno's Ennoshita Chikara who had been sitting on the bench for many games. In this match Ennoshita shows he is just as skilled as the regular players on the team.
8. Karasuno Vs. Date Tech
The first match between Date Tech and Karasuno in the anime takes place during the second phase of the Interhigh Tournament's Miyagi Prefectural Qualifiers. Date Tech famous for their strong defense had previously defeated Karasuno which left Karasuno's Ace Asahi Azumane feeling discouraged.
The match mainly shows Asahi Azumane's personal struggles with Nishinoya and Kageyama doing their best to help him get past this challenge. It also helps build the friendship between Hinata Shoyo and Date Tech's Takanobu Aone.
9. Karasuno Vs. Kakugawa
Karasuno plays against Kakugawa in the Spring Tournament Qualifiers. Kakugawa's Ace, Hyakuzawa Yudai is very tall and makes it difficult for Karasuno.
Even though Kakugawa is very tall. he doesn't have much experience in volleyball. Karasuno uses this to their advantage defeating him and winning the match.
10. Karasuno Vs. Tokonami
Karasuno's first match after Kageyama and Hinata joined was against Tokonami High. Tokonami did not expect to go far in the Miyagi Prefectural Qualifiers and they didn't have as strong a will to win as Karasuno, so the match started off one-sided.
However As the match goes on the Karasuno team tries out their new skills against the other team making it an exciting match to watch.
