The Minecraft leash once used to collect stray mobs and bring them back to your home has been updated. With new and returning players joining thanks to the Minecraft movie this important but often ignored tool has been reworked again. In the latest update (Snapshot 25w18a) the leash recipe is now easier to make. With these changes managing your mobs is simpler than ever.

Bees, chickens, rabbits, pigs, camels and hoglins all share something to bring them back to your base or anywhere else. you need a leash. The last update made it easier to connect multiple animals to one leash. So you don’t have to make multiple trips. But you still needed to craft the leash. Now with the latest update you no longer need a slime ball to make one.

Making a Minecraft leash used to need four strings and a slimeball. To get the slimeball you had to find a slime underground or wait for a panda to sneeze. Now you only need five strings to make a leash.

It's that easy. A few weeks ago you had to farm slimeballs and lead animals one by one. Now just tie the string and you can herd mobs all at once. The latest update also changes the dried ghast block recipe: instead of a bone block you need a soul sand block. If that’s too hard you can now get dried ghast by bartering with Piglins.

A huge Minecraft mod is coming that can support 100,000 players on one world. You can check it out here.
