Skull and Bones Year 2 Roadmap Revealed And It Looks Surprisingly Great,Skull and Bones Year 2 Roadmap Revealed,Skull and Bones
While Ubisoft's fortunes have improved slightly following the successful launch of Assassin's Creed Shadows there is no denying the fact that it was on a steep decline before that. One project that didn’t do well during that tough time was the co-op pirate game Skull & Bones. It was meant to compete with the popular Sea of Thieves but it fell short when it launched. Amazingly it is still going strong. Even more amazingly I have just seen its second year roadmap, and it is truly impressive.

With extremely disappointing critic scores (including our Skull & Bones review) and average sales and player counts and I was fully expecting Ubisoft's co-op game to fizzle out. When the fun shooter game XDefiant was shut down and I thought Skull & Bones would be shut down soon too.

Imagine how surprised I was when reports came out that it would be getting a second year of support. Now imagine my absolute surprise today because those reports turned out to be true and Skull & Bones second year actually looks amazing pretty good? I have no interest in playing Skull & Bones due to my already busy schedule of live service games the reception it received at launch and perhaps bitterness that Ubi could have just remastered my favorite Assassin's Creed game Black Flag and made a better pirate game. But I also have to admit that the roadmap for Year 2 is pretty solid.

Season 1 begins this week with some big new features and improvements. Item Ascension is a new feature that lets you improve your gear and add powerful upgrades. World Tiers make the game harder for experienced players and offer the chance to earn better rewards early. A new medium type of ship the Schooner is coming. Empires have been redesigned and improved in command and a new upgrade tree has been added to further expand your reach. And finally available mid-season is Death Tides a true dedicated PvP experience that offers a team-based objective mode where you can score points or eliminate your enemies to win.

Skull & Bones Year 2 Season 1 starts on Tuesday April 15 with a new encounter. with the Megafort a massive well defended fortress that will unleash all kinds of long and short range attacks on you. This season will also include a brand new ship that is bigger and more daring than any that has come before it. The Frigate is Skull & Bones first large-sized ship, and it is a behemoth loaded with cannons.

Season 3 might possibly be the most transformative for Skull & Bones. While it introduces a new officer system it ultimately takes you away from the waves and onto dry land. That is right ground combat is coming to the game a major aspect that was missing compared to its main rival Sea of Thieves.

Season 4 will bring a new big ship the Kraken a giant sea monster will also be added. The Kraken will be the largest creature seen in the game so far. Season 4 will also bring an improved hunting system.

Of course, it is all set to release in the next 12 months, but its content is pretty impressive. Huge ships giant sea monsters a proper PvP mode, land battles and everything in between should see Skull & Bones take a significant step towards becoming a true rival to Sea of Thieves. Will this dethrone it? I highly doubt it. But despite its flop status it is moving forward with some great new features great content, With big changes and updates we have seen some strange comebacks before maybe this will be the next one.
