The Forever Winter April update adds a new NPC named Bunko. She gives the Scavs a strong railgun that can be used for teamwork.
The Forever Winter is different from most loot shooters. It’s not about feeling powerful it’s about surviving in a world torn apart by a war between two huge companies. The world is destroyed and your friends are just trying to stay alive. But the new April update gives you a chance to fight back. Make friends with the new explorer in town find some allies and you might finally get a powerful weapon to turn the tide.
The Forever Winter’s April update called Nosebleed is out now. It adds several improvements to the dark co-op game that mixes survival and shooting. You can now craft weapon parts using terminals found inside buildings. The Stair Gate map can be played at night and the Mother Courage machines move and react better. The third-person camera works more smoothly AI teammates follow your commands more reliably and you’ll find more types of loot in containers.
The big changes start with a new explorer named Bunko. He’ll show up after you do enough in the game to catch his attention. Once you become friends with him. he’ll give you tasks that lead to a powerful new weapon a mounted railgun. To get it you’ll need to finish certain missions to collect the parts. Then Bunko will build it for you at the crafting station so you can use it in the field.
However setting up the railgun is no easy task, and it can't be done alone. All three pieces must be lifted one by one so you'll need three people to put it together. Once it's locked in place it can't be taken apart - so choose your position carefully. It also means you'll have to leave it behind when you leave a raid and create new parts to make another raid although developer The Fun Dog says it's considering adding a recovery operation in the future.
If that sounds like a lot give it a try you might be surprised. Just place it down and use the turret. It can shoot strong blasts that can destroy a tank in one hit. Fun Dog mentioned that if you focus your shots you can stun even the biggest enemies. You might also find a special loot drop this way so it’s a good idea to bring a drill or two when using the Railgun.
The Forever Winter April update is out now. You can get the game for 30% off until Thursday April 24. it costs $20.99 / £17.49. You can also try a free demo first. According to The Fun Dog this update is the first step toward new features like team-based targeting and gameplay. They also suggest keeping the items you get from bosses as they’ll be useful later.
