id Software is bringing back old times in Doom The Dark Ages especially with its cool and classic setting.
Doom The Dark Ages is finally here and id Software is focusing on bringing back the classic Doom feel. Instead of the fast chaotic style of Doom Eternal that some longtime fans didn’t enjoy this new game goes back to the roots. Hidden in the game’s settings is a special option that gives both the player and the Slayer a strong sense of nostalgia.
Like I said in my Doom The Dark Ages review the Doom series is usually at its best when id Software gets creative. The studio also likes to hide fun little extras in the game’s settings. For example the different HUD skins in Doom Eternal added a cool personal touch that really set the mood for me. So when I got to explore the menus in Doom The Dark Ages. I was excited and I wasn’t let down.
In The Dark Ages you can change the Slayer’s face on the screen to look like the old 90s version. The new Doomguy’s hologram face looks okay. but the best way to see this famous game character is the classic pixel style.
If you bought the premium edition early or are waiting for Doom The Dark Ages on Game Pass. You can change the settings when you get to the main menu. Just go to settings then the UI tab and change the Face Avatar Style to Classic in the HUD section. Now you’ll see the old-school Icon of Him on your screen.
This is not the only thing you can change when you start playing Doom The Dark Ages. In the settings you can also change how the game shows threats. This can make the screen less messy or help you see what’s happening better depending on what you choose.
There is an auto-sprint option in the Game tab. It turns on running automatically but is off at first. Doom is all about moving fast. Even though the Slayer moves slowly like a strong fortress turning on auto-sprint is a good idea.
If you think the Slayer is very Powerful you can even turn off the sounds he makes when he is hurt. Yes you can make him not feel pain I wish I could do that too.
If you want to make your game experience in Doom The Dark Ages just how you like it. go to the Difficulty settings in one of the missions. There you can change the game speed how much damage you take and more. This helps a lot if you want to find things you missed before because you can play the missions much faster.
