New Space Marine 2 Mod Enables 12-Player Co-Op Chaos

Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 was a top co-op game in 2024 and the new mod makes its Operations missions even bigger.

The real draw of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 is the chaos even if the Emperor won't admit it. Alien guts splatter chainswords roar and your teammates either give orders or fall beside you. In the middle of all the destruction there's a rush of excitement and life. Right now you can only experience the battle with two friends in a three-person squad. But what if you could play with twelve? Modder Warhammer Workshop has made that possible and it's the best kind of chaos.

I enjoyed Space Marine 2 for its story and scale. but the best part is the co-op Operations missions. I have spent hours fighting Tyranids with my partner taking out enemies as the Sniper from the back. While other couples play cozy games like Baldur's Gate 3. we are busy destroying Xenos and debating the best big gun.

Warhammer Workshop's new Space Marine 2 mod makes things even bigger. Picture 12 massive Space Marines smashing monsters in a flood of guts and having a blast. You will be able to do this soon.

The Warhammer Workshop mod lets you play Operations mode with up to twelve players four times the usual amount. It works with the modder's Astartes Overhaul which rebalances the game and adds new classes and weapons. You can download it as an add-on.

It's important to know that the game is still in testing. So you might see fps drops and some glitches as Chapter Master Valrak mentioned in the video. The enemies aren't balanced yet. So even the toughest ones will feel easy to beat. Valrak compares it to an MMO dungeon where a team of battle brothers work together.

Sabre has approved this mod, even though it had banned mods in online play before to prevent server issues. Warhammer Workshop thanks the Saber team saying This is a big step forward and they deserve all the praise.

The 12-player co-op Space Marine 2 mod is now available for Warhammer Workshop supporters. This is an early paid version. Warhammer Workshop says the full version of Astartes Overhaul: Expanded Customisation and 12-player co-op will be released this weekend either May 3 or 4.
