A brand-new trailer has been released for Chains of Lukomorye a dark fantasy shooting game. The game looks beautiful and is inspired by the fantasy world of Dark Souls and the destroyed battlefields from Battlefield One. It is part of theSoulslike genre which has many similar games but Chains of Lukomorye tries to stand out with its deep Slavic setting shooting-style gameplay and dreamy war-damaged world.

In the game you play as a soldier who goes on a journey into the underworld to save his wife’s soul. You are not alone Sirin a demon girl who can see the future, joins you. As you move through the world you will meet famous characters from Slavic myths like the witch Baba Yaga or the giant cat Kot Boyun. Some of these characters will help you but others like the forest guardian Leshy you will have to fight.

Even though the game feels magical and fantasy-like it also has realistic elements. You will use old World War 1 weapons like rusty guns and bayonets that can jam while firing. You also get special magical powers. And if you want, you can play with a friend your co-op partner can play as Sirin.

Chains of Lukomorye isn’t just inspired by other games it also takes ideas from old stories and poems. One of its biggest inspirations is the ancient tale of Orpheous and Eurydice. But even more directly it’s based on a Russian poem called Ruslan and Ludmila by Alexander Pushkin in fact the game trailer even starts with a quote from it. Just like the poem the game has a magical and mysterious feeling. You’ll see ghostly ruins floating above broken forts from the World War I era and dark forests that lead into old haunted places.
