In May SCS Software shared a short 22-second video showing a coach bus driving out from behind a truck in Euro Truck Simulator 2. This excited fans because they’ve been asking for coach buses in the game for years. Many even used mods to add them on their own. Now SCS has officially confirmed that coaches are being developed and it’s a big deal for the game.

SCS is working on something new called Project Coaches. Instead of driving trucks with cargo in Euro Truck Simulator 2 you’ll drive a coach bus taking families and older passengers on trips. SCS says the game is still in the early stages and a lot is still being worked on.

We've already started working on it. We’ve made a few coach models with their own driving styles and built a network of bus terminals around the map (which many of you have already noticed). We're also rebuilding some old coach stations from scratch to match the new gameplay.

SCS says Project Coaches won’t slow down any of its other plans. A separate team is working on the new system so truck updates map expansions and main ETS2 content will continue as usual. In fact the team just announced that Iceland is the next map expansion. So if you're not interested in coaches, there’s still plenty to look forward to.

SCS isn’t just working on Euro Truck Simulator 2 they’re also focusing on American Truck Simulator. Earlier this year they announced Project Road Trip which will add new vehicles like pickup trucks and sports cars not just big 18-wheelers. You’ll be able to explore the U.S. in a whole new way. SCS also said they might add new types of gameplay for these smaller vehicles so it’s not just about driving around.
