City-building game Dystopika is celebrating its anniversary with a big update. It adds new city districts, better lighting, weather effects, video recording and more cool features.
The beautiful cyberpunk city-builder Dystopika has received a big new update to celebrate its first anniversary. The developer Voids Within said they wanted to do something special and they really did. This update called Meditations brings lots of exciting new features. It adds two new city districts a huge megastructure, cool weather effects, better lighting new photo mode tools and many more improvements.
The new megastructure is called Jade Corp a giant high-tech building that leads the world in AI development. It’s shaped like a giant futuristic ring and glows with bright green lights. The two new districts are named Labber’s Row and C-VILLE. Labber’s Row is known for advanced scientific research. It’s full of rough blocky buildings and strange glowing UV-sanitizers on the streets giving it a mysterious sci-fi look.
C-VILLE is the black market area in the game’s dystopian world. It feels crowded and messy with narrow alleys full of small shops, ramen stalls and lots of tangled wires hanging above. The place is built like a maze with skybridges and rough pathways connecting different spots.
If you want a different vibe while exploring these areas the game now has new weather effects like thunderstorms and sandstorms. Thunderstorms can even hit tall buildings with lightning while sandstorms cover the whole city in dust giving it a rough dirty look. The developers suggest using sandstorms in the Labber's Row area to get a Dune-like atmosphere though sadly there are no giant sand worms.
In addition to the gameplay improvements Dystopika now has a brand-new soundtrack. The music mixes old-school synth sounds with a modern clean style. It’s made by Sascha Dikiciyan a well-known composer who has worked on famous games like Deus Ex Mankind Divided Mass Effect 3, The Long Dark and Quake 2.
If you enjoy taking photos in games there's also good news. A new camera control system has been added to give you more creative options. You can now use a camera movement widget adjust depth of field try out new filtersbadd lens dirt effects and even create and export videos straight from the game.
This new update also brings some cool additions like wall decorations, pot lights and light bar props. Blimps have been improved too and there are lots of small fixes changes to make the game smoother and quality of life updates. You can check out all the detailed changes in the full patch notes.
On top of that Dystopika is currently on sale You can grab it on Steam and GOG for 40% off it’s now just $4.19 in the US or £3.59 in the UK. The offer is available until July 5 so now’s a great time to pick it up. I’m heading over to add it to my collection right now.
