Endless Legend 2 Revives Fan-Favorite Faction in Final Lords Update

The Last Lords in Endless Legend 2 are cursed nobles stuck in armor. They’re one of the most unique groups in the new fantasy strategy game.

I’ve always really enjoyed the Civilization games but one thing that bothers me is how the different factions often feel very similar. They might look different on the outside but they usually play in the same way. That’s why I’m very excited for Endless Legend 2 the sequel to Amplitude Studios popular 4X strategy game from 2014. Just like the first game Endless Legend 2 focuses on giving players fewer but more unique factions. Each empire is designed to feel very different which makes the game more interesting and fun. Civilization 7 still seems a long way off but as Endless Legend 2 gets closer to release the developers have revealed a new faction that really caught my attention. It’s actually a new version of my favorite faction from the first game.

This new group is called the Last Lords. They are the updated version of the Broken Lords from the original game. These were once noble knights and proud leaders but now they are cursed. They don’t have real bodies anymore instead, they are ghostly spirits trapped inside empty suits of armor. Their bodies are made of a magical substance called Dust which is the most important resource in the game. Because of this they don’t eat food or grow their people in a normal way like other factions. Instead you have to spend Dust to create new units and grow your population. This makes them harder to play but also very rewarding. It was this unique and creative gameplay that made me love them in the first game and I’m so happy to see them return in Endless Legend 2 which is still one of the best 4X games out there.

After most people moved to the new ocean planet called Saiadha where Endless Legend 2 takes place only a few of the Last Lords have woken up from their long sleep in space. This new world is very different from their old home Auriga which was full of Dust. Because of this the Last Lords are weak in the beginning of the game. But as time passes and the water starts to go down more land becomes available. This gives you the chance to wake up more of your sleeping allies and slowly become very powerful by the end of the game.

One great thing about the Last Lords is that if you collect enough Dust you can create powerful units almost instantly. These units are very strong and can even heal themselves when other units nearby die. The Last Lords can also take control of smaller faction cities. Once they do they can choose to collect taxes from them use the people there as workers or take their life energy to help bring back more of their own people.

In Endless Legend 2 the Last Lords have a very powerful ability. They can turn entire villages into something called Soul Repositories. These special places are used to bring back their strongest warriors known as the Primordials. These units are very powerful and important in battles. Along with them the Last Lords also bring back the Dust Bishops. These were one of the best support units in the first game and many players loved using them. Another exciting return is the Dust Lords who ride huge flying creatures. These beasts can fly across the battlefield and cause massive destruction when they attack. I’m really happy to see all of these returning units but it’s also getting harder to decide which faction I want to play first there are so many good options.
