The Galactic Civilizations 4 Hyperlane Update makes it easier to travel, creates better maps, improves enemy AI and adds smarter fleet planning in Stardock’s space strategy game.
Stardock has made big changes to Galactic Civilizations 4 with its new 3.0 update. Based on over a year of player feedback the update improves map creation makes enemy AI smarter, adds more strategy options and balances the game better. Called the Hyperlane Update it includes hundreds of changes and is a big step forward for the 22-year-old series competing with other major strategy games like Stellaris.
Stardock CEO Brad Wardell says they've been listening to fan feedback for over a year to make Galactic Civilizations 4 better. They've added many things players asked for. The biggest new feature is Hyperlanes. These are special paths that let ships travel very fast between faraway stars. To see them you first have to unlock Subspace Scanning.
Maps are much better now. They run faster even on weaker PCs and can handle more stars at once. The map maker has been rebuilt and you get more choices when starting a new game. Inside the game many small changes to menus and buttons make everything easier to use and quicker to navigate.
A new fleet supply limit means you'll need to plan better during wars. You can raise this limit using technologies and planet upgrades. Stardock carefully read feedback from forums, Steam, Reddit and other places then tested everything to make many balanced changes.
The computer-controlled civilizations are now much smarter especially on higher difficulty levels. They can adjust the challenge during the game if they start losing. The 3.0 update also makes starships look better and improves how you share and download ships through the Steam Workshop. Stardock also says that all GalCiv 4 DLCs and expansions got new content and features over the past year.
The Galactic Civilizations 4 Hyperlane Update is now available. You can read all the patch notes and changes on the Steam forums Shared by Stardock.
