Mojang has shared the name of their second big game update in 2025. It is called Minecraft Chase the Skies and it will add a new character called the Happy Ghast.
Mojang announced the name of its next game update: Minecraft Chase the Skies. This update is about exploring the sky and going higher and higher. It was shown during the MC Championship TwitchRivals stream. There will be new features to make playing Minecraft even more fun.
The main new thing in Minecraft’s Chase the Skies update is a happy ghast you can ride. To get it go to the Nether and find a dried ghast block. These blocks are usually near fossils but you can also trade with piglins to get them. Or you can make one by using ghast tears and soul sand.
After you leave the Nether, put your dried ghast in water. Wait until it turns into a small ghastling. It won’t be a happy ghast yet. You have to feed the ghastling lots of snowballs. When you do it will become the flying mount you want.
Next is a helpful new feature in Minecraft: the player locator bar. It appears where your XP bar is and shows all your friends as colored dots. If your friends are above or below you an arrow points up or down to help you find them even if they're on a cliff or in a cave.
In Chase the Skies you can find a new music disc by defeating ghasts. Also there are five new background songs for different places in the Overworld made by Amos Roddy.
Mojang is also adding a big visual update to Minecraft called Vibrant Visuals. This will make the lighting shadows and details look much better giving you a fresh experience. If you don’t want to use it that’s okay you can still play with friends on Realms whether they have it or not. At first this update will only work on some Minecraft: Bedrock Edition devices but it will come to Java Edition later.
Mojang says you should bring saddles and leads that you can make in the game. These items were changed recently in the game updates. We don’t know when Chase the Skies will come out yet.
While you wait we have the best Minecraft mods and shaders to keep you busy and have fun.
