The Space Marine 2 public test server is open again. Players can try the new Siege mode and the changed Absolute difficulty in the Warhammer 40k game.
Space Marine 2 Patch 8 is bringing more than just the new Siege mode. You won’t have to wait long to try it either. The update also improves the tough Absolute difficulty mode and adds a new way to play the Bulwark class. If you play on Steam you can already try these changes early on the public test Server (PTS).
A new game mode called Siege was shown during the Warhammer Skulls event. It's a co-op survival mode where three players fight endless waves of enemies like Tyranids and Heretics. It's expected to be a tough PvE challenge. The games developer Saber Interactive is also working on more updates. Players recently said the new Absolute difficulty felt too easy and a poll confirmed this feedback.
Saber said the Absolute difficulty wasn’t very hard before and now it's even easier because players are getting stronger. To fix this they’re making it tougher. Now a second Terminus enemy can show up during missions. It will have much more health and bring extra enemies Some at the start and some halfway through. These extra enemies are also stronger with more Extremis types. Also missions with a final boss can now include a Terminus enemy too.
The developers decided not to put two Terminus enemies in Operations mode at the same time (except in Siege mode). This is because fighting two at once would make the game much harder than fighting them one after the other. Instead they want each Terminus battle to feel more challenging and exciting. They also said they will keep watching how hard the Absolute difficulty feels and make changes if needed.
The latest update lets the Bulwark class use the Thunder Hammer but if you choose it you can’t use the usual Storm Shield. The developers said they think this is a fun change and want more classes to try the Thunder Hammer. They also said they’re not finished with Bulwark yet more exciting features are coming. Plus Bulwark now has two new shield finishing moves.
You can now try out changes to prestige perks, class perks and weapon perks. The Bolt Pistol and Inferno Pistol have been improved a little. The developers say all weapons are working well overall. Combat feels smoother now you won’t get stuck in Neurothrope warp storms and you can use the Assault Jump Pack to dodge sniper shots.
The Space Marine 2 public test is now live and will run until Thursday, June 26 when patch 8 comes out. To join, you need the game on Steam. Look in your Steam library for Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2 Public Test Server and install it. This version is separate from the main game So your progress won’t carry over or be affected.
You can check the full patch notes from Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment to see all the changes. Saber also said they’re working on a big update to add more customization and fix weapon balance in PvP. These will come in a future update.
