Sunderfolk Demo Drops A Promising New BG3-Style Fantasy RPG
If you’re missing a game like Baldur’s Gate 3, Sunderfolk might be just what you need. It’s a new fantasy RPG made by Dreamhaven the studio started by former Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime. The game is designed to be easy to play and fun for everyone. Even if you haven’t played it yet there’s a free trial available on Steam right now so it’s a great time to check it out especially for a game night with friends.

Sunderfolk isn’t like most PC RPGs. Only one person needs to own the game and others can join in for free using their phones or tablets. Everything you need your controller, cards and rulebook is right there on your screen. It feels like a fun tabletop game but without all the work of setting things up or cleaning up afterward.

In Sunderfolk you begin your adventure in a peaceful village called Arden where different animal characters live together. You'll meet unique heroes like a strong berserker bear a magical crow arcanist and a skilled markhor ranger. But peace doesn’t last forever danger is coming and it’s up to you and your friends to prepare for battle. There are many missions to complete so working together as a team is very important.

If you’ve played games like Baldur’s Gate 3 or other turn-based RPGs Sunderfolk will feel familiar. Every time you make a move in battle you draw a Fate Card. These cards can make your character stronger or weaker adding a fun element of surprise and strategy. Battles become exciting because you never know what will happen next. My teammate Lauren tried the game earlier this year and really enjoyed it. If you're curious her experience gives a good idea of what to expect.

You can now try the Sunderfolk demo and there are a few things to keep in mind. You and your friends can play through the first four missions and all the heroes are unlocked from the start. The best part is that your progress will carry over to the full game so you won’t have to start over when the full version comes out.

The Sunderfolk free trial is available to play right now. If you enjoy it and want the full game it's currently 20% off until Thursday, June 26. That means you can get it for $39.99 / £35.99. Just click the link to get started.
