The military shooter 83 which is similar to Arma, Broken Arrow and Rising Storm is finally coming soon because it now has a new publisher.
I get why people enjoy games like Escape From Tarkov, Arma and Gray Zone Warfare. They're tough and realistic but sometimes they don’t feel convincing to me. When all you do is spawn and die over and over it feels more like a regular game than a real battle. Still I do enjoy the challenge and the realistic touches like loud guns, real bullet physics and a gritty look. A game called 83 first announced in 2019 seems to strike a good balance between being easy to play and feeling realistic. It's made by the people behind Rising Storm and Red Orchestra and after some delays it’s finally back in full development with a new publisher.
In January we said that the game 83 is now made by Blue Dot. The game is set in a made-up history where the Cold War turned into a war in the east. It’s a military shooting game with 40 players on each team. The weapons in the game are real and accurate. One player on each team is a Commander who controls the team’s strategy using a map like in a strategy game. The Commander can also use vehicles and tanks. Each game lasts only 30 to 40 minutes. 83 is designed for fast and exciting action.
Blue Dot says Tactical and military shooter games usually take a lot of time. Many people like Tarkov and Armanbut not everyone can play for 100 hours a week or spend a long time getting ready for a match only to die quickly. 83 is different it saves your time skips boring parts gets you into action fast but still keeps the feeling of real danger in war.
You can still die quickly but if you do, you will be back playing in just a minute or two. It’s better to avoid dying because your team needs you and every death is important.
Blue Dot now owns all the rights to the game 83. They have also made a new publishing deal so the game has enough money to be made from start to finish. The Blue Dot team has grown and now has 33 developers working hard on the shooter. There is no release date or playtests yet but you can add 83 to your Steam wishlist here.
