Wartorn Dark Fantasy RPG from Ex-BioShock Devs Launches Now

Wartorn is a new dark fantasy RPG roguelike that just came out on Steam. It mixes ideas from Hades 2, Baldur's Gate 3 and XCOM 2.

When you hear that a new studio is made up of people who worked on Bioshock and Borderlands you might expect a sci-fi shooter like The Outer Worlds 2. But Stray Kite Studios has surprised everyone with something different. Their first game Wartorn is a roguelike fantasy tactics RPG inspired by games like Diablo 4, Baldur's Gate 3 and XCOM 2. You can now try it yourself as it's just released in Early Access on Steam.

Wartorn is an RPG set in a fantasy world destroyed by war. You play as two sisters on a dangerous journey in a caravan trying to reach a safe old family fortress. Along the way you’ll face many battles. These fights happen in real time and you can team up with monsters that each have their own powers and skills.

The combat in Wartorn is all about where you place your units and how you use the environment. For example you can shock enemies standing in water or set tar on fire to deal more damage. The game also has roguelike elements where some of your progress carries over each time you play. Overall Wartorn offers a fresh twist on fantasy RPGs.
