Stunning Alien Isolation-Style Game Just Made a Surprise Comeback

Routine is a sci-fi horror game that was first announced 13 years ago. After a long time with no updates the game is finally back again. Now the developers are almost finished making it.

Back in 2012 a scary space game called Routine was approved by a program on Steam called Greenlight which allowed players to vote for games they wanted to see released. The developers had planned to release the game in 2013. But sadly even after more than 10 years the game still hasn’t come out. Many fans thought it was cancelled or forgotten. However the team behind the game Lunar Software recently shared some good news. They said Routine is still being worked on. The game has a creepy sci-fi style similar to Alien Isolation.

After missing its second planned release date in 2017 there was a long silence. No one heard anything new for several years. Then in 2022 something exciting happened Routine suddenly appeared during the Summer Game Fest show surprising fans. But after that the game went quiet again with no updates.

Now there’s finally a new update. On Tuesday July 8 the game’s publisher Raw Fury shared a blog post from Lunar Software on Steam. In that post the developers said sorry for making fans wait so long and for the lack of updates. They also said the game is still being developed and that they are finally getting close to finishing it. This means the long wait might be almost over.

The game studio Lunar has given fans a small update. They said they have learned many lessons from past projects. One important lesson is that they won’t promise a release date too early. They want to be 100% sure before saying when the game will come out. But the good news is they feel confident that they’ll have more updates to share very soon.

The studio also shared some sad news. Mick Gordon the famous music composer who worked on Doom Eternal left the project in July 2024. Even though he is no longer working on the game players will still get to hear some of the music he made when the game Routine finally releases.

Lunar also showed some new images from the game. These screenshots show a place called Union Plaza which is a tourist spot on the moon that isn’t doing so well. The pictures don’t show a lot of details yet but they give fans the best look at the game since it was last seen three years ago.

Even though fans are excited the studio didn’t give an exact release date in the blog post. Still many are hoping it won’t be too long before they finally get to play this much-awaited horror game.
