Bunny Day has returned to Animal Crossing New Horizons but many players are not happy about it. Animal Crossing is usually known for being a calm and relaxing game series. Players can create their own island and talk to animal neighbors. While there are some villagers that are less popular than others and none of them are as popular as the weird mascot-like Zipper T. Neither is as universally disliked as the bunny.
The Bunny Day event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons happens in the spring. During the event players can find eggs on their island and give them to Zipper, a bunny-like character. It seems like a fun way to welcome the new season but many fans find the rabbit-suit-wearing Zipper creepy and see the event as a nuisance. This year's pre Bunny Day festivities began on April 13 and will last for about two weeks.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fans Begrudgingly Welcome Zipper Back to Their Islands
Animal Crossing players on Reddit are not happy to see the strange rabbit character Zipper on their islands. Not again Reddit user bananapeeljazzy said in a post adding picture of Zipper being locked behind bars.
Other Redditors have shared their experiences of welcoming Zipper to their islands such as Other_Pomelo2288's video in which the mascot character K.K. Slider is seen dancing to the end credits song. The Redditor commented that bro that's too much dancing for someone who wasn't even invited and go away. Redditor Ini_Miney_Mimi shared a different video commenting on how scared they are to see Zipper looking sad and dejected until he sees the player and then getting sad again.
Another post from an ACNH player who goes by the name cinnabunnibun02 on Reddit, does not require a video to see the full effect. The post is simply an image that reminds me of the twins from The Shining: Zipper is positioned perfectly on the back of a tricycle and is slightly out of focus, giving him an oddly sinister look. Take him away cinnabunnibun02 wrote in the caption of the post. The Animal Crossing community is friendly and welcoming to everyone, including Zipper T. Bunny is one character who has very few fans.
Why Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fans Have Strong Feelings About Bunny Day
Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released on March 20. 2020 and the first Bunny Day came less than a month later. Players were just starting to get into the game in the midst of a global pandemic when suddenly there were eggs everywhere as Redditor Wildruler describes it.
He adds: I could not get cute cottagecore things to decorate my island, because they were just eggs. The eggs replaced fossils dug up from the ground things falling from trees and even fish taken from waterways. The egg drop rate was so high in the first year that Nintendo had to tone it down in subsequent years.
What should have been a beloved springtime event turned into a nuisance for players, so much so that they have come to dread the rabbit characters return every year since. Of course, all the complaints are in jest, as the ACNH Bunny Day event is still a fun and silly part of enjoying the game and many fans enjoy the search for eggs and all the egg-themed furniture that can be made from them. Most Animal Crossing: New Horizons players are happy that the Bunny Day event is over and Zipper T. Bunny is leaving. They can't wait for the rabbit to go away until next year.
