To mark the first anniversary of Manor Lords Slavic Magic shares the key updates coming soon.
It's hard to believe that a year has passed since Manor Lords launched on Steam. Once the most wishlisted game on the platform this early access strategy and city builder has only improved over the past 12 months. Major updates from developer Slavic Magic have made the game deeper more detailed and bigger. While the full 1.0 launch is still far off Slavic Magic is celebrating Manor Lords first anniversary by giving a look at what's coming next.
Manor Lords started as a solo project by Slavic Magic but now it is being developed by a full team. The team works on things like map design, programming, AI, art, game design and testing. Slavic Magic is still at the core but the project is no longer a one-person effort.
As for what’s next Slavic Magic is working on improving AI. Manor Lords AI can now build and manage a small village. The team is still improving things like city planning, trading and farming. New features like burgage plots backyard extensions and living space expansions have been added to the AI. so when these updates are ready, the AI will be much better.
Slavic Magic is working on a new records view that will show details about local production and consumption. The information will be displayed in graphs showing how different resources are produced and used in each area with a simple interface.
You can not just build a township and leave it alone. That's why Slavic Magic is adding an upkeep system. Many buildings in Manor Lords will soon need maintenance. You'll need to think about where your village is and who lives there. For example a smithy needs tools and deep mines need planks to keep from collapsing.
That’s not all however because You'll also get plenty of updates to different systems soon. The stone resource is getting a big upgrade allowing you to build a quarry to mine it endlessly. You can also make a lime kiln which is important for advanced stone construction. These two buildings will be important for managing stone. The team has also improved the camera code to make it easier to use.
Slavic Magic is working on updates to help NPCs stand on top of gates and walk underneath them at the same time. The feature is still being tested and Slavic Magic is unsure if it's worth the computational cost.
Manor Lords will also see some mechanic changes soon. Approval balance will be more stable with past events having less effect on new ones. Slavic Magic is getting a big rework. but we won’t hear more about it until the next update. Some level one castle pieces are being changed but the details aren’t clear yet.
To round out The Manor Lords anniversary update will add proper manuscript-inspired art to replace the work-in-progress graphics. This update also includes new art for map resource node locations to match other UI changes in the game.
Manor Lords has a bright future and I’m excited to see what the team does next. With almost 60,000 good reviews on Steam it’s a great example of a successful early-access game.
