Marvel Rivals overall, is quite entertaining, but it also has a numbers of problems. The game can feel a little greedy with how it makes money. I also do not like being put into bot matches in Quick Play. Plus, it does not really do much to stop smurfing since there are no placement matches. This can be really annoying for casual players.
Thankfully it looks like NetEase is finally trying to do something about its widespread smurfing problem. A Reddit user named IntoTheRain78 noticed that NetEase recently updated the report system in Marvel Rivals. Now players can report others for smurfing even though it is not during placement matches.
Marvel Rivals Takes Action Against Smurfs in Ranked Mode
To report someone, find the player you want to report. Smurf accounts usually have a low level but a high rank. Choose the option to report for negative behavior and you will see an option for smurfing. Hopefully this will reduce the problem somewhat, though we don't know how NetEase will control this.
It is being speculated that NetEase will monitor accounts through hardware, allowing anyone to go from PC to console to avoid being wrongly flagged as a smurfer. IntoTheRain78 says they saw more info about smurf reporting on a Japanese website. They say players get a warning first, but they did not share a link so it can’t be confirmed.
If you think someone is smurfing, just report them and let the system do its job. This will help, especially if we have placement matches with the new reporting system. the competitive Marvel rivalry scene could become stronger.
