Oblivion Remaster's Updated Visuals Divide Fans: It Looks So Much Worse

This morning, we got our first look at the upcoming Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, thanks to a pretty spectacular mistake from developer Virtuos who accidentally left fans access to a folder full of screenshots. Those screenshots have now been shared far and wide and we finally have an idea of what the game will actually look like.

We only have a few screenshots, but they are enough to get a good picture. We have the iconic opening scene of the ruins outside the sewers, a view of an Oblivion gate some cities, a goblin attack and the interiors of some houses. Like I said not much, but it seems to be enough for some people to declare that they really do not like the look of this Oblivion remaster.

Oblivion Fans Split Over Whether the Remaster is Better or Worse

One fan on Twitter, Mickey D, spoke out and told Bethesda to stop making Oblivion brown and focus on working on The Elder Scrolls 6 instead. In a follow-up tweet. he pointed out that the lack of color in these screenshots is making him skeptical of the game as a whole and this seems like a common complaint.

Another Twitter user named Minna thinks the remaster looks pretty bad complaining about how little greenery there is in these screenshots compared to the original. A user called capcorgi mentions that Bethesda has added a p*** filter to Oblivion referring to the strange yellow tint used in many games from the late 2000s.

Luckily, we won't have to wait much longer to play the game and see the new visuals. Sources say The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been planned as a surprise release for a while and the latest rumors suggest it could arrive as early as next week. This was said last week and it was said the week before that too though, so maybe don't get your hopes up too much.
