The Die in the Dungeon potions update adds a new feature to the game that combines elements from Dicey Dungeons and Slay the Spire.
If you haven't tried Die in the Dungeon yet. it's a roguelike game similar to Slay the Spire. You go through different fights and events getting stronger with each step and improving your gear to face new challenges. What makes it unique is its combat system which is different from other dice-based games like Dicey Dungeons or Dice and Fold.
Each turn you place your dice in a grid to decide what actions you take, like attacking, blocking or healing. Different colors do different things some act directly and others help boost nearby dice. There are also special effects that change how the dice work or give extra powers. But sometimes with a downside (like glass or wild cards in Balatro).
Now there is a new way to get out of tough situations. Potions are one-time use items you can find and use during battles. They come in different levels of rarity the rarer they are the stronger or riskier they get. You can get potions after fights buy them in shops or earn special super potions from boss battles. But you will only get two super potions in a run So use them wisely.
Most of the time potions work based on dice rolls. For example the Blue Soul super potion uses two four-sided dice to decide a block value which is used for each enemy that's still alive. Some potions only work if your roll is high enough. There are 25 regular potions and 10 super potions to find So you'll keep discovering new effects for a long time.
